Anduril Industries announced the development of the Barracuda-500, a surface-launched cruise missile designed to deliver long-range precision strike capabilities while remaining affordable and scalable. According to Anduril, this new addition is part of its broader Barracuda family, which focuses on adaptable autonomous air and missile systems.
The company explained that the Barracuda-500 will be compatible with multiple platforms, including existing ground-based systems, allowing for flexibility and rapid deployment in a variety of operational scenarios. This adaptability, Anduril noted, is a key advantage in modern military operations.
Anduril stated that the Barracuda-500 addresses the need for an economical, high-performance solution for strike operations, contrasting with traditional missile systems which can be costly and complex to deploy. The Barracuda-500 is intended to offer strategic reach without the limitations of expense and logistical complexity.
The programme reflects Anduril’s commitment to delivering accessible, high-capacity defence capabilities and its focus on enabling scalable production to support long-term operational needs.
