DroneShield has announced the expansion of its U.S. research and development operations, more than doubling its workforce in the country. According to DroneShield, over 30% of the new roles will be focused on software development, particularly enhancing artificial intelligence capabilities.
As part of the expansion, DroneShield will open a second U.S. facility in Virginia, aiming to strengthen innovation, accelerate product development, and better serve its growing customer base. The company highlighted that this investment supports the global scaling of its advanced counter-uncrewed systems (CUxS) solutions.
Matt McCrann, CEO of DroneShield LLC, stated that expanding U.S. operations is critical to supporting the defense industrial base and advancing the company’s ability to deliver innovative solutions for evolving threats. Tom Branstetter, Vice President of Sales and Business Development, noted that the growth demonstrates a strong commitment to U.S. customers and enhances responsiveness to operational needs.
Angus Bean, Chief Product and Technology Officer, emphasized that the enlarged technology team will improve speed, precision, and real-time support for critical programs. DroneShield said that this expansion complements its broader international initiatives, including recent facility growth in Australia and a new office in the European Union.
