Performance Drone Works (PDW) announced it has received a $20.9 million contract from the U.S. Army to provide its C100 Group 2 Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) and Multi-Mission Payloads (MMP) in support of the Army’s Transformation in Contact (TiC) initiative. According to PDW, this marks the company’s third engagement with the TiC program, following prior contracts that deployed C100 systems to Army units under commands including INDOPACOM, EUCOM, and CENTCOM.
The TiC initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of emerging commercial technologies for military use, allowing rapid fielding and assessment in operational environments. PDW stated that under this contract, the C100 systems will feature three modular payloads to:
- Operate effectively in GPS-denied environments,
- Extend peer-to-peer and beyond-line-of-sight communications, and
- Detect and counter adversary electronic signals.
Ryan Gury, PDW’s CEO and co-founder, mentioned that the contract highlights the importance of quickly integrating new technologies to maintain a competitive advantage. He emphasized the affordability, modularity, and multi-mission capabilities of the C100 as key reasons for its selection under the TiC initiative.
This award follows PDW’s previous $15 million TiC 2.0 contract in December 2024, which helped deploy C100 systems in critical operational areas. PDW noted that these continued efforts demonstrate the Army’s increasing reliance on advanced unmanned systems to meet evolving defense requirements.
