Stark Aerospace Inc. has confirmed that the U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command has executed the first option year under its prime contract for MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS) MK 25 canisters. The option, valued at $99,068,240, covers production in support of the Navy’s FY24–28 program requirements, according to the company’s announcement.
The prime contract, originally awarded on October 21, 2024, includes one base year and three option years. With the base period and now the first option exercised, Stark is set to continue delivering MK 41 canisters to the Navy. The company noted that this ongoing effort is expected to support national defense readiness, infrastructure improvements, and research initiatives, while further cementing its role in the aerospace and defense industry.
David Alabed, President and CEO of Stark Aerospace, said the decision reflects the Navy’s trust in the company’s workforce and processes. He underscored that option years are not automatic, calling the award an honor and a responsibility to continue supporting mission readiness. Alabed emphasized Stark’s dedication to delivering high-quality systems on time to U.S. warfighters, noting the importance of their work in protecting lives.
Stark added that the award will bolster its position as a critical supplier in the defense industrial base. The project is also expected to sustain and create jobs in Central Mississippi, while expanding the company’s economic contributions across the Golden Triangle region.
Alabed further commented that this milestone strengthens Stark’s partnership with the U.S. Navy, drives workforce growth, and reaffirms the company’s commitment to supporting America’s national defense.
Founded in 2006, Stark Aerospace produces missile systems and loitering munitions and has emphasized its commitment to “Excellence in All We Do.”
