Kratos Defense & Security Solutions and the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) have revealed the Mighty Hornet IV, a high-speed attack unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), at the Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (TADTE) 2025, according to Kratos.

The Mighty Hornet IV is an upgraded version of the MQM-178 target drone, designed for Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) and loitering munition missions. The companies noted that the UAV offers improved speed, agility, and versatility to support modern military operations.

Steve Fendley, President of Kratos’ Unmanned Systems Division, stated that the system builds upon over 15 years of Kratos’ experience providing aerial target solutions to Taiwan, marking a major advancement in unmanned aerial capabilities.

The announcement highlighted that the collaboration between Kratos and NCSIST strengthens Taiwan’s defense technology and enhances operational flexibility for regional security purposes.
