Forterra partnered with Volvo Defense to showcase how Forterra’s autonomous mission systems can be embedded into Volvo’s vehicle platforms. The demonstration, held during DSEI 2025, highlighted how combining these technologies can deliver modular and mission-ready autonomy for defense applications.

Forterra mentioned that its AutoDrive® system and other autonomy solutions were integrated into Volvo Defense vehicles to support a variety of military roles, including resupply, troop movement, counter-drone measures, and electronic warfare. The companies stated that this approach improves operational flexibility and provides secure connectivity for defense forces.

According to Forterra, the collaboration with Volvo Defense demonstrates how adaptable autonomy can reduce soldier workload while increasing survivability and mobility on the battlefield. Company representatives emphasized that the modular design of the mission systems allows them to be configured to meet the needs of different defense organizations.

Scott Sanders, Chief Growth Officer at Forterra, commented that combining the company’s autonomous mission capabilities with Volvo Defense’s durable platforms creates scalable solutions for military operators. He added that this integration shows how autonomy and vehicle design can be aligned to address demanding mission requirements.
