Chess Dynamics, part of the Cohort plc Group, has unveiled the OMEGA positioner, expanding its portfolio of precision positioning systems. According to the announcement, OMEGA is designed to accommodate payloads up to 500 kg, providing enhanced torque, stability, and accuracy for large and complex sensor systems used in defense and security operations.

The company mentioned that OMEGA is built to handle the heaviest and most sophisticated sensor suites, including radar arrays, multi-sensor pods, and long-range precision surveillance equipment. Its rugged design ensures reliable performance and precise tracking even under challenging environmental and operational conditions.

Mark Byfield, Managing Director of Chess Dynamics, emphasized that the OMEGA positioner meets the evolving operational demands where sensor payloads are increasing in size and complexity. He noted that it delivers uncompromising performance in real-world conditions, ensuring that defense operators can maintain situational awareness across multiple domains.

OMEGA features a modular, open architecture, similar to Chess Dynamics’ Viper system, which allows integration with a variety of sensors and effectors. The positioner can be deployed on land vehicles, naval vessels, fixed infrastructure, or portable systems, providing versatility across defense platforms.

Key capabilities of OMEGA include flexible payload support for radar and electro-optical systems, high torque for smooth control, precise pointing under adverse conditions, and stabilization options for dynamic platforms. According to Chess Dynamics, these features enhance operational effectiveness and situational awareness in complex defense environments.
