Robin Radar has announced a software enhancement for its IRIS counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) radar, extending the system’s detection range to 12 kilometers.

According to Robin Radar, the upgrade—called Long-Range Mode (LRM)—is a software-only update that can be deployed remotely, avoiding the need for hardware modifications. This improvement allows earlier identification and classification of loitering munitions and fixed-wing drones, giving defense personnel more time to respond to threats.

The company mentioned that the enhancement was developed with input from operators in Ukraine to ensure practical effectiveness in real-world operations. Kristian Brost, General Manager of Robin Radar USA, noted that the extended range strengthens situational awareness and improves protection for both personnel and critical infrastructure.

Robin Radar emphasized that the LRM upgrade is now ready for deployment to U.S. and European defense agencies, including homeland security and military organizations.
