The U.S. Department of Defense has confirmed that Metron Inc., based in Reston, Virginia, has been awarded a $9.28 million contract to advance technologies supporting undersea warfare. According to the announcement, the award covers work on signal processing, tracking algorithms, analytical tools, and display systems designed to strengthen both submarine and surface ship capabilities.
The contract, which is structured as cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-only, also includes options that, if exercised, could raise the total value to nearly $49.4 million. The department stated that the work will primarily take place at Metron’s Virginia headquarters (95%), with the remainder conducted in Portland, Oregon (5%). Completion is expected by September 2026.
According to the announcement, the project will contribute to enhancements for the Undersea Warfare Decision Support System, as well as to future capability builds for naval platforms. These developments are intended to boost the Navy’s ability to track, assess, and respond effectively in undersea domains.
