GE Aerospace has entered into a strategic partnership with Beta Technologies to co-develop a hybrid-electric turbogenerator aimed at accelerating the evolution of hybrid-electric aviation. According to the announcement, the initiative targets both the advanced air mobility sector and broader aerospace applications, leveraging the unique strengths of both companies in propulsion and electrification.
Beta Technologies brings its cutting-edge electric propulsion systems to the table, while GE Aerospace contributes deep expertise in engine certification, safety protocols, and turbine-based power systems. The collaboration is designed to support Beta’s aircraft programs—including vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) platforms—by pairing electric generators with traditional turbine components to enhance range, payload, and operational efficiency.
Kyle Clark, Beta’s founder and CEO, expressed that GE’s investment is a significant endorsement of Beta’s innovative capabilities and ambition. He noted that the agreement reflects confidence in their shared vision for the future of aviation.
GE Aerospace’s leadership sees the partnership as a critical step in meeting its customers’ emerging demands for sustainable propulsion solutions. By merging scalable turbine expertise with electric motor technology, the collaboration aims to offer differentiated aircraft performance that boosts both efficiency and operational flexibility.
