ICEYE, a company specializing in synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) satellites, announced a collaboration with SATIM to introduce a new product called Detect and Classify. According to ICEYE, this service uses artificial intelligence to quickly identify and categorize objects captured in radar imagery, helping analysts make decisions with less reliance on time-consuming manual reviews.

The product combines ICEYE’s SAR imaging with SATIM’s AI-driven recognition models. ICEYE mentioned that the system can spot and classify vessels, aircraft, and ground vehicles with more than 90 percent accuracy. By delivering both the image and the analysis in one package, the solution is designed to strengthen situational awareness in environments where rapid intelligence is essential.

John Cartwright, Senior Vice President of Data Product at ICEYE, explained that the new tool helps shorten the gap between receiving satellite imagery and turning it into actionable insight. He described the shift as moving toward “lights-out operations,” where AI automates much of the process, reducing the workload on intelligence teams.

Jacek Strzelczyk, CEO of SATIM, added that the integration of ICEYE’s imagery with SATIM’s object catalog allows users to bypass traditional manual analysis methods. He noted that this approach improves efficiency and provides timely intelligence to those who depend on it.

ICEYE also highlighted that its satellite constellation, which the company calls the world’s largest SAR fleet, captures high-resolution images day and night under all weather conditions. The company pointed out that its recently introduced Scan Wide imaging mode—capable of covering up to 60,000 square kilometers in a single scene—further expands the potential of the new Detect and Classify service.
