DroneShield, an Australian leader in AI-driven counter-drone and electronic warfare systems, announced it has renewed its participation in the Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN). According to the company, this ongoing membership reflects a steadfast commitment to bolstering Australia’s sovereign defence capabilities.
AIDN serves as the country’s principal industry association for the defence sector, advocating for domestic capacity building, facilitating industry partnerships, and supporting local businesses in global markets. The press release emphasizes that DroneShield began as a modest technology startup but has since expanded substantially—its Australian engineering workforce has grown to nearly 300—catalyzed by international sales to military and law enforcement agencies across the United States, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Angus Bean, Chief Product and Technology Officer at DroneShield, remarked that the company’s evolution—stemming from a team of just five over a decade ago—underscores the importance of nurturing small and medium enterprises within Australia’s defence ecosystem. He noted that AIDN membership enhances their ability to contribute to a resilient national defence infrastructure and to collaborate with fellow innovators shaping future security technologies.
Carl Quarterman, Chair of AIDN, praised DroneShield’s growth as a testament to the power of long-term investments in sovereign capability. According to him, DroneShield exemplifies what Australian ingenuity can achieve, and AIDN values their active role in advancing domestic defence solutions to serve both national and international security needs.
DroneShield further stated that its collaboration with AIDN reflects its conviction that Australian SMEs and sovereign capacity are vital for delivering agile and innovative systems to the Australian Defence Force. Through this alliance, the company plans to continue advocating for initiatives and programs that empower the national defence sector and enhance Australia’s strategic autonomy.
