Andøya Space announced that it has signed a Term Sheet with Astrobotic Technology, Inc. to bring the company’s Xodiac reusable launch vehicle to Norway. According to Andøya Space, this agreement is the first step toward a full Launch Site Agreement, with initial operations planned to begin in 2026.
The announcement highlighted that the collaboration will make Xodiac the first reusable U.S. rocket to be launched from continental Europe. Astrobotic intends to use Andøya’s new spaceport facilities for repeated flights, supported by the company’s investment in advanced infrastructure.
Troels Sandreid, President of Andøya Spaceport, stated that adding reusable launch services represents an important milestone in establishing Andøya as a hub for next-generation commercial space projects in Europe.
Astrobotic’s CEO John Thornton emphasized that operating from Norway will allow the company to provide flight-proven reusable rockets for both government and commercial customers. He also pointed out that this step supports faster testing and development of space technologies at a lower cost.
The companies explained that the agreement includes a focus on regulatory compliance and security. Measures will be put in place under a dedicated framework to ensure operations follow all legal requirements, the Technology Safeguard Agreement, and Andøya Space’s internal policies.
Andøya Space confirmed that the deal will strengthen Europe’s ability to access space with more flexibility and independence, while supporting innovation through rapid, repeatable launches.
