Andøya Space and Rheinmetall Nordic AS (RhN) announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) aimed at enhancing Europe’s civil and military space capabilities. According to Andøya Space, the partnership will focus on providing responsive satellite deployment solutions and reinforcing secure space infrastructure.

The collaboration is intended to strengthen the satellite and launch value chain at Andøya Spaceport, offering both regular commercial launches and rapid-response capabilities for tactical missions. Troels Sandreid, President of Andøya Spaceport, described the LOI as a key milestone, emphasizing that combining Andøya Space’s infrastructure with Rheinmetall Nordic’s expertise will allow Europe to respond faster and more securely to civil and military space requirements.

The agreement aims to support the operational readiness of European space assets, providing flexibility, accelerated deployment of satellites, and enhanced strategic autonomy. Andøya Space highlighted that the partnership is designed to maintain and expand reliable space capabilities for Norway, Germany, NATO member states, and allied countries.
