Infinity Avionics, an Australian innovator in smart space imaging, and Nurjana Technologies, an Italian firm specializing in sensor integration and artificial intelligence, have announced a new international partnership. This strategic collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to co-develop next-generation technologies crucial for enhancing Space Domain Awareness (SDA).

Space Domain Awareness, as defined by the companies, is the vital capability to detect, track, and analyze objects in orbit. This joint effort will focus on addressing the increasing challenges of space traffic management and the monitoring of orbital debris through advanced imaging, AI-driven analytics, and mission-proven hardware.

As an initial step in this collaboration, Nurjana Technologies is showcasing its SDA capabilities using Infinity Avionics’ Lynx4MP-70MM camera. This camera is deployed on the “Exotopic Give Me Some Space!” mission, a project facilitated by Third Planet Orbital’s support and deployer (TPOD). This real-world deployment will provide valuable data and demonstrate the combined strengths of the partnership.

Igor Dimitrijevic, CEO of Infinity Avionics, commented on the significance of this agreement, stating that it marks the beginning of a broader collaboration. He indicated that the partnership will leverage each company’s unique expertise to address emerging challenges and develop novel solutions in the evolving space environment.

Pietro Andronico, CEO of Nurjana Technologies, reportedly noted that his company is actively developing next-generation payloads for Italian and European SDA initiatives. He expressed pleasure in launching this collaboration, believing that Infinity Avionics’ space-proven solutions offer significant potential to enhance Nurjana’s SDA capabilities.

The collaboration brings together Infinity Avionics’ proficiency in highly customized space imaging solutions, particularly for space situational awareness and non-Earth imaging, which incorporate artificial intelligence. Nurjana Technologies, for its part, contributes advanced situational awareness solutions spanning defense, security, and surveillance, with expertise in command and control systems for precise tracking and identification of objects, and optical tracking technology supporting long-range detection and video analysis. Their work in the space sector includes satellite collision avoidance, utilizing mission simulation and high-precision orbital propagation.

Both companies look forward to redefining the future of space situational awareness, orbit by orbit, through their combined efforts.
