GomSpace, a leading specialist in nanosatellite solutions, has announced the signing of a €19.5 million contract with a privately held, venture-funded technology company based in Europe. This agreement involves the delivery of 18 satellites, a key component in the customer’s efforts to establish a next-generation satellite network.
According to the announcement, these 18 satellites are intended for a proof-of-concept and early service verification mission, with delivery expected within a 12-month timeframe. The project will utilize GomSpace’s standardized satellite platform, which, as stated by the company, benefits from extensive flight heritage and a modular design, allowing for rapid deployment and efficient manufacturing. All satellites will be constructed at GomSpace’s production facilities in Aalborg, Denmark.
Carsten Drachmann, CEO of GomSpace, emphasized the critical nature of this initiative for their customer, expressing pride in being chosen from a competitive pool of suppliers. He highlighted GomSpace’s technological background, customer-centric approach, and scalable manufacturing capabilities as decisive factors in securing the contract. Drachmann also conveyed the company’s eagerness to foster a long-term collaboration.
The company mentioned that it proactively procured necessary materials for these satellites in Q2, aligning with its strategy to reduce time to market and ensure timely delivery by Q2 2026. GomSpace anticipates receiving initial payments from the customer in Q3. This contract signifies a significant achievement for GomSpace, demonstrating the operational readiness and market maturity of its pre-qualified satellite platform. The platform is also available as a complete satellite assembly kit for customers who prefer to build and integrate satellites independently.
