DroneShield, a leading developer of counter-drone technology, has announced its largest contract to date, a €57 million (approximately $61.6 million USD) deal with a European military client. The agreement, facilitated through an in-country reseller, signifies a major step in bolstering European defense capabilities against unmanned aerial threats.
According to the company’s statement, the significant contract encompasses three individual follow-on agreements for handheld drone detection and counter-drone systems, along with associated accessories. Deliveries of the equipment are anticipated to be completed within the third quarter of 2025, with payments expected across the third and fourth quarters of the same year. This substantial order surpasses DroneShield’s total revenue for the entirety of 2024, highlighting the increasing global demand for sophisticated counter-drone solutions.
The recent contract builds upon a history of increasing orders from the same European reseller over the past two years, moving from initial evaluation units to multi-million dollar commitments. As DroneShield mentioned, a previous order for the same customer in April 2024 was valued at approximately €0.46 million (around $0.5 million USD).
Oleg Vornik, CEO of DroneShield, commented on the escalating trend, noting that military customers are transitioning from testing hardware to broader deployments, indicating a widespread adoption of their technology. He further stated that the company is well-positioned to meet this rising demand due to its expanded production and inventory capabilities. The firm’s recent growth in production capacity ensures that this record-setting order can be fulfilled within the current quarter.
This major contract aligns with DroneShield’s broader strategic expansion in Europe. The company is actively investing in establishing its first manufacturing and assembly facility in the region. This new European Centre of Excellence is expected to support local production, research and development, drone testing, and operator training, further solidifying DroneShield’s presence in a market that, as the company indicated, represents over €1 billion (approximately $1.1 billion USD) across 55 active pipeline opportunities. This regional expansion also complements European initiatives aimed at strengthening defense investments and procurement autonomy.
