Tiberius Aerospace, a new player in the defense technology sector, has officially emerged from stealth mode, introducing its groundbreaking “Sceptre” (TRBM 155HG) munition. This innovative liquid-fueled, 155mm ramjet artillery round promises to redefine extended-range precision-guided capabilities for howitzer-class artillery.

According to a recent announcement from Tiberius, the company was founded in 2022 with a clear mission: to address the evolving landscape of global conflict by prioritizing speed, adaptability, cost-effectiveness, and supply chain resilience in defense solutions. The company’s leadership, drawing on extensive experience from Silicon Valley and consumer technology, aims to apply best practices from commercial sectors to rapidly deliver impactful and modular weapon systems.

The flagship product, Sceptre, is touted as a significant leap forward in artillery technology. As stated by Tiberius, it is a precision-guided ballistic munition capable of reaching speeds of Mach 3.5 and altitudes exceeding 65,000 feet, which places it beyond typical jamming ranges. The munition offers an extended range of up to 150km, depending on its payload, and boasts superior targeting accuracy with a circular error probability (CEP) of less than 5 meters, even in environments where GPS might be contested. This is a substantial improvement compared to the over 100-meter CEP often seen with traditional artillery.

Tiberius has emphasized Sceptre’s compatibility with NATO-standard 155mm artillery platforms. Furthermore, they note that the munition’s unique ignition system and limited barrel contact points are designed to minimize barrel degradation, a crucial factor for reducing maintenance and extending operational readiness. To enhance logistical efficiency and ensure a shelf life exceeding 20 years, Sceptre utilizes a proprietary, just-in-time liquid propellant system that can operate on multiple fuel types, including diesel, JP-4, and JP-8.

Chad Steelberg, Founder and CEO of Tiberius Aerospace, mentioned that the company’s objective is to provide next-generation weapon systems that offer exceptional capability with precision, scalability, and efficiency. He indicated that the public launch of Sceptre fulfills this objective by delivering long-range, precision-guided effects in a cost-effective package, thereby addressing a critical capability gap.

In a recent development, Tiberius Aerospace has also announced a partnership with the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Defence Technology Secretariat. This collaboration is set to provide the UK Parliament with insights into key advancements in the defense industry impacting national security, further solidifying Tiberius’s commitment to shaping future defense procurement models.

The company’s approach to defense procurement, which separates design from manufacturing, allows allied nations to rapidly deploy high-technology defense systems. This “Defense-as-a-Service” model is expected to enable continuous iteration and improvement of their products, akin to the development cycles seen in consumer technology. Beyond Sceptre, Tiberius is also exploring other innovative solutions, including the “Invictus” multi-mission strike missile and the “Vault” autonomous vertical launch system, as well as an AI-powered product called “Grail” to assist manufacturers and defense ministries with product roadmaps.
