Australian counter-drone technology company DroneShield is significantly expanding its operations across Europe, establishing its first manufacturing and assembly facility outside Australia. This strategic move aligns with Europe’s substantial rearmament initiatives, including the €800 billion (approximately A$1.4 trillion) “ReArm Europe Plan/Readiness 2030.”
As reported by Forbes Australia on June 10, 2025, DroneShield’s expansion is a direct response to the escalating demand for advanced counter-drone solutions in the region. Europe has now surpassed the United States as DroneShield’s largest export market, with potential opportunities exceeding A$500 million.
Defence Industry Europe on June 10, 2025, highlighted that this expansion includes a new European sales hub and a second manufacturing line for select DroneShield hardware. Crucially, the company aims to ensure that at least 65% of the content for certain regional products will be European-based, supporting local industry and fulfilling requirements of European defense programs.
Asia Pacific Defence Reporter on June 11, 2025, further noted that DroneShield’s technology has played a significant role in supporting Ukraine in the ongoing conflict, providing the company with valuable real-world experience. The company recently completed an A$8.2 million order for counter-UAS systems for a major European military customer, marking its fourth such successful delivery. This ongoing engagement positions DroneShield as a key partner in Europe’s efforts to enhance its military self-reliance and address modern warfare threats, particularly from drones.
