UVision Air has introduced a new aerial launch system for its Hero-120 loitering munition, enabling deployment directly from helicopters—a move the company describes as a significant enhancement in rotary-wing firepower and operational flexibility. According to EDR Magazine, this new system allows helicopters to launch the munition mid-flight, without requiring complex modifications to the aircraft’s avionics or structure.
The Hero-120, a mid-range precision loitering munition designed to neutralize armored and soft targets, can now be launched using a mission-configurable canister system. This aerial launcher is adaptable to a wide range of NATO-standard helicopters, enhancing their lethality without compromising flight characteristics. As EDR Magazine noted, once the munition is airborne, control can be seamlessly transferred from the helicopter crew to a ground operator, supporting coordinated, beyond-line-of-sight engagements.
European Security & Defence highlighted that the system supports a variety of warhead configurations, including anti-armor, anti-personnel, and ISR payloads. This modularity allows mission-specific loadouts and rapid switching between operational roles, making it suitable for both conventional and special forces applications.
UVision CEO Dr. Ran Gozali mentioned that this development represents a tactical shift in the use of loitering munitions, allowing rotary-wing platforms to deploy them in real time, with increased precision and minimal logistical burden. He emphasized that the solution brings together rapid deployment, long-range lethality, and streamlined integration—all key attributes in modern warfare.
The aerial launcher builds upon UVision’s experience with airborne deployment and demonstrates the company’s ongoing focus on operational adaptability. With this addition, the Hero-120 becomes a more versatile asset, extending the reach of helicopter missions while maintaining a high degree of control and precision.
