Spanish startup XRF has been named the sole Spanish company chosen to join the European Defence Fund’s (EDF) inaugural Defence Innovation Accelerator program. According to Cinco Días, this initiative aims to support early-stage startups across Europe with innovative technologies that could strengthen the continent’s defense capabilities.
The program gathers around 40 startups from various EU member states, offering them financial support, mentoring, and access to strategic partnerships with both government and industry players. Infodefensa noted that this accelerator focuses on companies developing dual-use technologies relevant to defense, such as advanced sensors, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems.
XRF was selected for its promising work in advanced sensor technology, which aligns well with current European defense priorities. The company will benefit from resources designed to accelerate its technology development and facilitate integration into defense applications. This opportunity also highlights Spain’s emerging role in the European defense innovation landscape.
Participation in the EDF accelerator allows XRF to tap into a broader European network, gaining exposure and collaboration chances that can help scale its solutions in both military and commercial markets. The move is part of a wider EU effort to boost technological independence and enhance the competitiveness of its defense industry.
